First Baptist Woodstock: Serving Our Community Every Day
First Baptist Woodstock has been part of the Woodstock community since 1837, but what makes the church a natural partner for Krause for a Cause isn't its history - it's its commitment to caring for people. Every week, the church serves individuals and families throughout Cherokee County and the greater Atlanta area by meeting practical needs, building relationships, and offering hope.
One of the church's most significant local ministries is its Food Ministry. With nearly 20,000 people in Cherokee County experiencing food insecurity, First Baptist Woodstock provides groceries to families who need assistance through its food pantry. The ministry is supported by generous donations from church members, local businesses, and community food drives, ensuring that families have access to nutritious food during difficult seasons. In addition, the church operates a thrift store, giving individuals and families affordable access to clothing, household items, and other essentials.
The church also invests in some of the community's most vulnerable children through WeFoster, helping recruit, encourage, and support foster and adoptive families while partnering with local agencies to care for children in foster care.
For more than three decades, Church on the Street has served men and women experiencing homelessness throughout metro Atlanta. Every Saturday, volunteers provide meals, bottled water, clothing, hygiene supplies, blankets, prayer, and personal encouragement while building ongoing relationships with those they serve.
First Baptist Woodstock also welcomes immigrants through its international ministry by providing household essentials, transportation assistance, mentoring, and friendship as families begin new lives in the United States. English (ESL) classes and citizenship preparation courses help participants gain practical skills, pursue employment opportunities, and become active members of the community.
The church's care extends to veterans and military families, senior adults, individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, and families recovering after natural disasters through trained disaster relief teams that respond when communities are impacted by storms and other emergencies.
Beyond these ongoing ministries, First Baptist Woodstock hosts community events throughout the year, partners with local schools and nonprofit organizations, and mobilizes hundreds of volunteers to serve neighbors across Cherokee County. The goal is simple: to care for people in tangible ways while helping build a stronger, healthier community.
