Flanders Fields is a veteran-founded nonprofit based in Cumming, Georgia, built on a simple promise: no veteran should have to fight alone after coming home. Formed in 2021 by a group of combat veterans — including Purple Heart recipients and amputees — Flanders Fields was co-founded by Robert Coleman and is led by CEO Ben Owen, an Army infantry veteran who has spoken openly about his own road through homelessness and addiction.
What They Do
The heart of their work is helping veterans recover and rebuild. Flanders Fields focuses on addiction recovery — covering the cost of treatment, arranging transportation, and helping veterans get placed in inpatient facilities — and on the crises that so often travel with it: homelessness, unemployment, and the strain all of this puts on families. Their programs reach across addiction recovery, housing assistance, employment and job placement after treatment, and direct support for the spouses, kids, and caregivers who stand alongside a veteran in recovery.
Their mission is plain-spoken and urgent: to help end veteran homelessness, addiction, and suicide. They do it veteran-to-veteran, by people who understand the journey because they have lived it themselves.
